Sarah Shannahan, M.D.

Dr. Sarah Shannahan came to Gastro Health after completing her fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where she also trained in internal medicine and served as chief medical resident. A native of the MetroWest area, Dr. Shannahan is a graduate of Boston College and the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Interested in medical education and clinical research, Dr. Shannahan has received several prestigious awards from BIDMC and Harvard Medical School for teaching excellence and humanism in medicine, and is an assistant professor at Tufts University School of Medicine. Published in the fields of fecal transplantation, celiac disease, and inflammatory bowel disease, she will be helping to lead our teams growing clinical research programs.

Trained in all major GI procedures, including capsule endoscopy and chromoendoscopy, Dr. Shannahan has a clinical interest in inflammatory bowel disease and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease in pregnancy. Dr. Shannahan is accepting new patients with a broad array of gastrointestinal conditions.
