Medical Secretary

Job Description

The medical secretary is to function as a member of the administrative team and complete all daily tasks to ensure smooth day to day operations in our busy Gastroenterology practice located in Framingham, MA. We provide excellent employee benfits.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Answers and route telephone calls appropriately; take messages, follow through with each message, ensuring that the appropriate physician/staff member has received the information. Provide routine information to callers.
  • Schedule patients’ appointments and appropriate testing for patients as directed.
  • Verify information from patients, including demographic and health insurance information.
  • Prepare documents for billing physician encounters, enter data, ensure that referrals and authorizations are received, and all information accurate.

Qualifications 

  • 1 to 3 years of experience as a Medical Secretary
  • Experience with electronic medical record strongly preferred

Prior medical office experience preferred and exemplary customer service skills required.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Greeting patients, obtaining vital signs, gathering and updating patient information in EHR, breath tests, fibroscans
  • Assisting physicians
  • Communicating with pharmacies
  • Authorizations
  • Traveling between offices

Candidates must be proficient with electronic medial records. CMA certification mandatory.
