Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is an infection that is caused by a virus which attacks the liver primarily, and can lead to inflammation. There are more than 200,000 cases a year in the United States.

Symptoms can include:

  • Fatigue
  • Muscle soreness
  • Stomach pain
  • Fever
  • Weight loss

Hepatitis C is detected by blood tests and treated with new antiviral medications with over a 90 percent success rate. If the liver is extremely damaged, surgery may be required.
